Hi everyone! I hope your week is going well!
So a fellow member of ours, dtb84, is working on an outline I would like our help. He writes:
So, I’m working on an outline for a long story… I have the basics of the story set down, I’m figuring on spending my writing time fleshing out the outline over the next week. While the story was bobbling around in my head I started wondering what setting I should place the story into. I feel it fits either into a historical era (Roman or so, maybe with a touch, light touch, of fantasy) or postmodern (as seems to be popular in Hunger Games, Maze Runner, Divergence and so on).
I was hoping to get some thoughts and opinions between the two (or other) settings before I finish up the outline and begin drafting the story out, any ideas?
What do you guys think? Do you prefer the historical era or postmodern genre? Let me know below or go here to let dtb84 know personally!
Don't forget Featured Poll winners will be announced tomorrow, May 6th!

Okay, everyone!
First off, I want to apologize for being absent. I think it was a week and a half and that's not fair to anyone. Finals swamped me, but now I'm on summer break so I can focus on all of you! If anyone feels slighted or disappointed, just send in a submission and drop me a message saying you are using your free submission. I'll let everyone use one. Again, I can't apologize enough. I really hope you guys aren't too downtrodden.
However, I have happier news!
April is coming to a close and that means a few things. First of all, summer is getting closer and everyone is getting excited I'm sure. I'm moving right now too which as
Membership Guidelines [Decision]
Hello, everyone! <3
I hope this will please most of you, but there was no way to make everyone happy. Pretty much I got a 50/50 of some wanting the rules, and others wanting them dropped. Although, I did get some great suggestions as well so thank you for that, and thank you for taking the time to give me your opinion!

Now for my decision:
I'm dropping the membership guidelines.

And what I've decided to do instead:
-Membership requests are not automatically accepted anymore. People who want to join are going to be asked to critique a piece from the gallery before his/her request will be accepted.
-Only active members will be
Your Thoughts? Please Read
I've put a lot of thought into this, and I'm really on the fence about it.
As far as membership is concerned, I feel like those of you that put forth a lot of effort and really participate should be the focal point of the group, and the easiest way for me to do that and focus solely on those deviations and members is to weed out inactive members. That's why I came up with the membership guidelines.
On the other hand, I don't want this to be a forced, stressful atmosphere. I don't want you worrying about whether or not you've met the requirements to keep your membership or not. I want you focused on giving and receiving feedback and growing

I'm leaning historic, I like the idea of historic... Though I have heard opinions mentioning the constraints that can be imposed by historical stories (I don't think it will dissuade me), along with the mentioning that Game of Thrones is historicalisk (seems like everything is getting some good play time lately).
I've become curious about the two settings...
